Space Talks #002: Melati Wijsen
Melati Wijsen is a 19-year-old changemaker from Indonesia. Her activism journey began when she was just 12 years old. She co-founded the youth-driven environmental movement Bye Bye Plastic Bags with her younger sister Isabel when the pair were still in highschool, and has since gone on to launch YOUTHTOPIA – a project designed to empower young changemakers through meaningful and short peer-to-peer programs. Wijsen has spoken for TED and the United Nations, has been selected as one of the ten most inspiring women in the country by Forbes and listed by TIME as one of the most influential teens in the world. Here, she joins forces with Space Available to discuss the plastic emergency, the interconnectedness of global issues, and how growing up in Bali has shaped her insights on pollution and the planet.
